Intersport to start developing 3-ha land plot near Olimpiysky complex in Kyiv when Euro 2012 finishes
Kyiv, July 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Kyiv-based Intersport Ltd. plans to start developing a 3.09-hectare land plot near the Olimpiysky National Sports Complex in Kyiv when the Euro 2012 European football championship finishes, according to the co-owner of the company, Gari Korohodsky, said.
"[Ukrainian authorities] held talks with us, it was not orders. We saw that one land plot is vitally important for the Olimpiysky complex, and we [Ural Ltd.] gave up the rights on the land plot. We would not receive compensation. We also saw that the second land plot is not vitally important for the stadium. The second land plot was left in our ownership – Intersport Company," he said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.
Korohodsky said that a 50-meter swimming pool would be built on the land plot.
He did not disclose investment in the project, adding that this is at least $50 million.
The land plot at 55, Chervonoarmiyska Street was leased to Ural Ltd. to build, exploit and service office, hotel and residential premises and buildings. Earlier the complex used the land plot.
