Transparency International Ukraine: E-declaration system must be launched in full

KYIV. Sept 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Transparency International Ukraine has supported the need for a full launch of the register of electronic declaration and the establishment of an anti-corruption court as a mechanism of bringing corrupt officials to justice.

"Unfortunately, self-indulgence is very widely spread, our judicial system is affected by it," Executive Director of Transparency International Ukraine Yaroslav Yurchyshyn said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.

According to him, judges cannot explain the origin of their cars and real estate.

"With the invigoration of the NABU's activities and the launch of an e-declaration system judges start to hide more. They register their property to grandparents and friends," the expert said.

In this context, he said there is critical need for a holistic launch of the electronic declaration system.

"Due to technical problems the system is not fully operating. I hope all the technical defects will be removed," he said.

He added there is no need to amend the legislation in this regard.

According to Yurchyshyn, another important element in the fight against corruption is setting up an anti-corruption court.
