International Book Fair 'Medvin: Book World' to be held in Kyiv on November 6-9

Kyiv, November 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The 11th International Book Fair "Medvin: Book World" will open in Kyiv on Thursday, November 6.

"Books of various types and on various subjects from around 300 publishing houses will be presented at the exhibition. They include children's literature, school manuals, classics, books by contemporary writers, fiction, popular scientific, and technical literature," President of the Ukrainian Association of Book Distributors Oleksandr Afonin said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.

He said that the Kyiv International Festival of Christian Books would be also held as part of the book fair.

Afonin said during the book fair, a meeting would take place for the first time between the heads of the central executive bodies involved in book industry, and representatives from the publishing industry.

"Ukrainian Vice Premier Ivan Vasiunyk, Culture Minister Vasyl Vovkun, and Education Minister Ivan Vakarchuk have been invited for the meeting. During the meeting, we are planning to discuss the prospects of the publishing industry in Ukraine under conditions of financial crisis," he said.

The book fair will be held at the Sportyvny Exhibition Center until November 9.
