Kyiv region backs Yuschenko as economically strong president, says district chief

Kyiv, December 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky district in Kyiv region has said Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has the best grip of economic issues of all the presidential candidates, according to Valentyna Usyk, the chief of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky District State Administration and leader of the Kyiv regional branch of the Our Ukraine party.

"There are no presidents and candidates for president stronger than Yuschenko, really economically stronger," she said at a press conference at the Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.

Usyk said that Yuschenko's presidential activity had proved that he is a professional economist.

"He currently has strong powers, so he proposed his draft constitution to the people," she said.

"It is Yuschenko who will manage to bring the country forward so that it becomes a really democratic and prosperous country, which is necessary for Ukrainians… The state should be economically strong, and Yuschenko, as a patriot, realizes this," Usyk said.
