Reduction of operating personnel terrible for railway sector, says Ukrzaliznytsia head

Kyiv, January 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The reduction of operating personnel in the railway sector, in particular, conductors and locomotive drivers, is senseless and terrible, acting Director General of the State Railway Administration of Ukraine (Ukrzaliznytsia) Maksym Blank said during a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.

He said that the structure of management in the sector looks like a multilayer pyramid with extra staff.

"Do you know why people are dismissed at the bottom? The link is hit by grave disease – nepotism. The head hires the godfather of his child, his bother, the father of the son-in-law, and they in turn hire their persons to the medium management link, and if this is not prevented, the dismissals of conductors and operating staff will continue," he said.

Blank added that the main area of optimization should be the medium management link.
