BYT not to attempt cancellation of rise in social standards but to prepare alternative draft law, says MP
Kyiv, November 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The BYT faction will not register a draft law on the cancellation of rises in social standards, chairperson of the parliamentary committee for industrial and regulatory policy, Natalia Korolevska (the BYT faction) said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.
"It is difficult today to submit a draft law on the cancellation of the rise in social standards. We lack the votes in parliament," she said.
At the same time, the MP reported the creation of a working group consisting of members of the parliamentary committee for regulatory and industrial policy and the Industry Ministry, which is to prepare an alternative draft law.
According to Korolevska the aim of this draft law will be to provide social protection for enterprises and their employees.
"Over two weeks we will work out [the draft law]… and then we will submit the alternative draft law," the MP said.
Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko earlier signed the law on a rise in social standards and sent his proposals concerning amendments to the law on the state budget for 2009 to the Verkhovna Rada.
The parliament affirmed amendments to the state budget for 2009 on November 6.
