Kyiv, October 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine could farm 300,000 tonnes of fish a year, President of the nongovernmental organization Intellectual Center of the Rational Water Management in Ukraine Vasyl Korotetsky has said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine.

"Our potential for aquiculture is 300,000 tonnes of fish a year. Today we farm 25,000 tonnes, according to statistics," he said.

The expert also said that Ukraine has a large potential of mariculture and could farm various types of sea fish at artificial farms. This will allow cutting imports-dependability of the country in the segment.

Korotetsky said that the state did not provide any support to producers in this direction.

"Early March we visited the agricultural policy minister and told him that the measures should be taken and what measures are need to save our fishing fleet left in Crimea. He did nothing," Korotetsky said.
