OSCE expert mission to support confidence-building in Ukraine to arrive to Kyiv tomorrow
Kyiv, March 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The first team of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe's mission (OSCE) will arrive to Kyiv on March 21.
"The first team will arrive to Kyiv very soon. This is so-called mission of the dialogue to identify areas for further OSCE activities," Swiss ambassador to Ukraine Christian Schoenenberger said at the press conference hosted by Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.
OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine Madina Jarbussynova, in turn, said: "The team, which will implement the project on dialogue, will arrive to Kyiv even tomorrow. The team will be led by the ambassador of Croatia."
According to her, this mission "will promote a national dialogue to identify areas to support confidence-building between different parts of Ukrainian society."
As reported, the OSCE has started deploying its mission of 15 international experts to Ukraine under a project to promote national dialogue, the organization said on its Web site.
"The project team will be deployed for four weeks in selected locations agreed with the Ukrainian government to gather information about issues of concern, in particular political, humanitarian and minority issues," the statement said.
The experts will be in Ukraine to help "a peaceful and sustainable political transition." The mission is being deployed at Ukraine's request, the statement said.
The 15-person expert team will be headed by Ambassador of Croatia Hidajet Biscevic.
"The team will submit a final report with concrete recommendations on how the OSCE can support dialogue and restore confidence in Ukraine on local, regional and national levels," the organization said.
