Kyiv, March 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Kyiv can recall its 56th separate helicopter detachment of the UN Mission in Liberia to enforce its military presence in the Crimea due to the military operation started by Russian in Ukraine, according to the Director of Military Programs at the Razumkov Center Mykola Sunhurovsky.

During, the presentation of "SIPRI Yearbook 2013" at Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday, the expert stressed the importance of using as many foreign policy mechanisms as possible to lower the tension in the country and in the first place – in Crimea.

"One viable option is to inform the UN that due to the tense situation in the Crimea we are recalling our 56th separate helicopter detachment from Liberia," said the expert, specifying that the Ukrainian mission in Liberia consisted of 275 professional soldiers.

"It might compel the UN to take more drastic actions in helping Ukraine," he said.

In addition, Sunhurovsky said that under those conditions it was also beneficial for Kyiv to initiate the creation of a international coalition to provide financial and humanitarian aid.

"Why not address the international community with the initiative of creating a 'Friends of Ukraine' foundation which would purposefully deal with the issue of providing Ukraine with financial and humanitarian aid under these new conditions," he said.
