Kyiv, November 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The 112 TV news channel will be launched in Ukraine on November 28, 2013, the director general of the channel, Andriy Podschypkov, has said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine.

He said that at the moment of the launch of the TV channel, viewers will be offered eight hours of the channel's own output (mainly live programs), while next year the channel plans to bring the volume of its own programming to 16 hours.

General Producer Oleksiy Semenov said that the distinctive feature of the channel would be the short time between the occurrence of an event and the moment of live broadcast.

"If we take an information channel of a national channel – they broadcast news with a delay. In our opinion, news is not news if it's broadcast two hours after the event occurred. Channels have to cut, prepare items and record off-text when the items arrive. We have anchormen for live programs, they receive the information wire and at once broadcast it on the air. We take comments from experts and analysts at once. Thus, from the moment the news was broadcast until receiving comments, a short period of time passes – five or ten minutes," Semenov said.

Semenov said that the TV channel does not plan to buy TV content.

"It's not because we cannot spare money, but because this is wrong. We produce content ourselves. We've bought only feature films at present. These are festival and arthouse films that are not broadcast by other channels," the general producer said.

The TV channel also plans to develop a regional franchise.

Technical Director Yuriy Ivanov said that the news complex of the TV channel is built on the basis of the AVID Interplay Central system, which helps reporters on sites quickly work. Reporters have remote access to video materials kept at the head office of the TV channel.

He added that the TV channel's signal will be broadcast online and foreign viewers will be able to watch it. The channel will be in the DVB-T2 digital network of Zeonbud operator. The 112 channel will be broadcast from the AMOS satellite and the cable networks of the Triolan and Volia providers.
