Antitrust agency, Transparency International Ukraine to create online register of corrupt bidders in procurement

Kyiv, July 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine's Antimonopoly Committee jointly with Transparency International Ukraine are developing an online register of dishonest participants in procurement.

"We'd like to create together with Ukraine's Antimonopoly Committee an open, public online register of dishonest and unfair participants in procurement. This means that an organization listed in that register won't be able to bid in tenders for two years as suspected of corruption," Head of Transparency International Ukraine Oleksii Khmara said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Friday.

"We need a filter, a hurdle to block corrupted entities," he added. A corresponding bill is being developed, he said.

Khmara also expressed hope that a draft bill on the creation of an online register would be tabled in parliament this autumn.
