Purchase prices of milk in Ukraine to grow by at least 10% by March 2013, says expert
Kyiv, November 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The growth in the purchase prices of milk in Ukraine in the winter period until March 2013 will be at least 10%, according to President of the Association of Milk Producers of Ukraine, Andriy Dykun.
"There are preconditions for [milk] price growth… I think that it will be at least 10%," he said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.
Dykun said that at present, a slight rise in the price of raw milk is seen. He said that today the price of milk bought from agricultural companies is UAH 3.30-3.50 per kilogram, and from households UAH 2.20 per kilogram.
The expert said that last year the price of milk was considerably higher than it is today – around UAH 4 per kilogram and UAH 2.80 per kilogram respectively.
As reported, referring to the State Statistics Service, milk production in Ukraine in January-October 2012 grew by 2.7% year-over-year, to UAH 9.89 million tonnes.
