Kyiv, September 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian MP Ostap Semerak (BYT-Batkivschyna faction) will send a request to Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka demanding that evidence of illegal activity with slot machines in Brovary be investigated.

"Today we are signing a deputy's request to the prosecutor general, which sets out all of the facts, and are asking the prosecutor general to conduct proper, objective, and quick checks to clarify the role and participation in this activity of Brovary Mayor [Ihor Sapozhko], Regional Prosecutor [Mykhailo Vitiaz], Regional Governor [Anatoliy Prysiazhniuk] and, obviously, the district administration," Semerak said at a press conference at the Interfax-Ukraine news agency on Monday.

He also said that subsequent requests to the prosecutor's office would concern the work of illegal gambling centers in Boryspil and Vyshgorod (Kyiv region), as well as in other regions in Ukraine.

"We're not setting the goal of identifying all places with slot machines. Our goal is to make public the existing problem and refer to the prosecutor general so that he could demonstrate the truth and honesty of his statements," he said.

A member of the Right of the People public organization, Oleh Kischuk, in turn, showed photos of illegal gambling centers in Brovary. He suggested that the mayor of Brovary had to be aware of such an illegal business in the town.

"The mayor is doing nothing at all [to fight illegal gambling centers]. I think that he gets profit, bribes and so on, from this," the activist said.
