Ukrainian Interior Minister Vitaliy Zakharchenko has said that the police do not show their political preferences during mass protests and stressed that the ministry is not involved in politics.

"The police will not intervene in political activity and will not voice opinions on any political actions," the minister said during a panel discussion on cooperation between the police and journalists in Kyiv on Wednesday.

Zakharchenko added that if public order is disturbed during a mass rally the police have to and will act within the frames of the legislation to restrict any kinds of violations.
