Ex-deputy prosecutor general Kasko says he won't flee Ukraine, despite pressure

Ex-deputy prosecutor general of Ukraine Vitaliy Kasko has said that he won't leave the country, even though someone wants to force him to leave it. He said he intends to fight for his rights.

"I have information that not the first month all these actions were made for me to leave the state. I categorically refused to leave Ukraine and am ready to defend my rights in any courts and to any law enforcement agency," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday.

He also denied issued against him accusations from the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, adding that the investigation launched against him meant to discredit him.

As reported, an activist of Avtomaidan civil organization Oleksiy Hrytsenko on his Facebook account reported that prosecution agencies late on April 10 presented a note to suspicion of committing a crime to former deputy prosecutor general Volodymyr Kasko. However, Kasko's lawyer Yevhen Hrushkovets denied his client is suspected of any wrongdoing.

For its part, the PGO press service confirmed on Monday morning that prosecution agencies presented a note to Kasko about alleged crimes committed under the Articles 190, part 4 (fraud) and Article 358 of Part 4 (counterfeit of the documents) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
