Yanukovych says he knows little about his son's business

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said that he doesn't know any details about the growth in the income of his son Oleksandr.

"I know no details. I know that he is used to working a lot, and has created a good team. The main thing I demand of him and constantly tell him, is everything they do, they must do transparently, since he's under the microscope," Yanukovych said during the final press conference in Kyiv on Friday answering the media's question how his son became a billionaire.

The head of the state advised the journalist to put this question directly to Oleksandr Yanukovych.

"You can put this question personally to him. He has slightly more time than I do, and he meets with press more often. Nobody will refuse you, come and he'll answer your questions," the president said.

As reported, the assets of MACO Group, the owner of which is Oleksandr Yanukovych, the eldest son of the president of Ukraine, and which unites private joint-stock company MACO Holding (Donetsk), public joint-stock company Vseukrayinsky Bank Rozvytku (all-Ukrainian Development Bank, VBR Bank, Kyiv), and over 10 companies in Ukraine, the Netherlands and Switzerland, came to UAH 1.709 billion as of late 2011.
