The Ukrainian government will establish a working group in charge of fulfilling the conditions necessary for the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

"The cabinet decided at its meeting on February 27 to establish an ad hoc group that will be in charge of carrying out the decisions that we have to implement," he said at the press conference in Kyiv on Friday.

The president said that the group needed to finish the implementation of the first stage of the action plan on liberalization of the visa regime with the EU, to conduct reforms aimed at raising living standard of Ukrainians, as well as reforms aimed at development of democracy and ensuring observance of rights and freedoms of Ukrainians.

The president said the country needed these reforms.

"We will address these issues first of all for our own sake. After all, Ukraine needs these reforms, and they will undoubtedly harmonize our relations with Europe and contribute to the harmonization of Ukrainian and European legislation," Yanukovych said.
