Yanukovych slams healthcare reform in Ukraine

1 min read

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has criticized the poor quality of medical services in Ukraine.

"There are many complaints about sluggishness and open negligence of human interests from officials at all levels," the president said at an extended meeting of the Ukrainian government on Wednesday.

He stressed that the problem is, first of all, to do with poor quality and expensive healthcare services.

According to the president, this is caused, in particular, by slow implementation of the administrative service system reform.

"Each state agency is trying to create its own service center, instead of forming a common network. This loads, confuses citizens and retains corruption in this sphere," Yanukovych said.

In addition, relevant basic laws in the sphere are used with serious difficulties, while the government and the Health Ministry adopt by-laws with significant delays, the president said.

The head of state also emphasized that the country's regions practically do not receive instructions and organizational assistance from the government.

Yanukovych also criticized the fact that the basic law on work of public health facilities has not been passed by local governments.
