Social Policy Ministry should focus on legalization of wages, says Yanukovych

The legalization of the wages of Ukrainian citizens is a key task of the Social Policy Ministry in 2013, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

"We won't be able to increase social aid without an increase in legal wages. This is an important component and this task must be carried out using available experience. The legalization of wages is one of the biggest tasks that has to be fulfilled in the near future," he said at a meeting of the Economic Reform Committee in Kyiv on Thursday.

The head of state asked Social Policy Minister Natalia Korolevska to pay attention to the work of social aid centers in regions.

"There are regions where the whole system works very well and we should share this experience all over the country. And in the regions where politics intrudes [in the centers' work], I mean Western regions, where there are 'big politicians' and 'big patriots', prosecutors should work together with you," the head of state said.

Yanukovych stressed that cases of unreasonable depriving people of the right to receive social aid are unacceptable.
