Monetary base in Ukraine 2.6% up in April

Monetary base in Ukraine grew by 2.6% in April 2016, to UAH 335.891 billion, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) reported on its website.

According to its data, the M3 monetary aggregate over the period increased by 0.9%, to UAH 1.016 trillion.

The National Bank said the volume of cash outside banks (the M0 aggregate) grew by 3.8%, to UAH 279.758 billion.

Since the beginning of 2016 monetary base has decreased by 0.03%, cash outside banks by 1%, while the money supply increased by 2.3%.

The monetary base in Ukraine in 2015 rose by 0.8%, M3 aggregate by 3.9%, while cash outside banks decreased by 0.1%.

The NBU in late January 2016 downgraded its forecast for the growth of monetary base this year to 8.3% from 17.2%, money supply to 10.5% from 16.8% with inflation forecast being 12%, setting them for 2017 at 8.3% and 11.5% respectively with inflation target being 8%.
