Ukraine plans to resume air services with Turkmenistan

The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine plans to hold talks with the aviation authorities of Turkmenistan to resume air services with the country, minister Andriy Pyvovarsky has told reporters.

According to him, an agreement was reached on starting technical consultations on the issue.

He added that a meeting with Turkmenistan Airlines will be held this week.

Earlier, on October 29, Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko said Ukraine will expand the presence of its companies in Turkmenistan.

"We've agreed to expand the presence of Ukrainian companies here and simplify their participation in tenders. The appropriate representatives of the Turkmen government, which will be directly responsible for Ukraine's presence in the Turkmen market, have been defined," he said following his visit to Turkmenistan.

In September 2015, Ukraine International Airlines (UIA, Kyiv) postponed launching flights to Ashgabat due to unsettled agreements between the Ukrainian and Turkmen aviation authorities.
