Yatseniuk proposes parliament deprives Health Ministry of functions to hold state procurement tenders

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk will ask lawmakers to remove the holding of tenders and state procurement from the list of functions of the Health Ministry.

"According to the coalition agreement we’ve decided to remove one of the most corrupted elements from the Health Ministry – tenders and state procurement. I will ask the Ukrainian parliament to support this, pass the relevant legislation and introduce the most transparent tender procedure," he said, introducing nominees to ministers.

He said that Ukraine spends 8% of GDP on medicine.

"Half of the funds are being embezzled. Alexander Kvitashvili is to conduct radical reforms. He does not have liaisons with Ukrainian pharmaceutical mafia," he said.
