Free access to information on owners of property in Ukraine to improve situation on market, not to affect prices, says expert

The provision of open access to information on owners of property in Ukraine is of a systemic character and positively influence the infrastructure of the real estate market in general, Vice President of FIABCI-Ukraine (Kyiv) Oleksandr Bondarenko has told Interfax-Ukraine, commenting on the adoption of the relevant legislative initiatives by the Ukrainian parliament on Tuesday.

"The market becomes more transparent, more clear and more open, which improves the general situation on the market: the registration system is being improved and changed and the openness of registers will allow getting the full information [on the deal] long before the transaction," he said.

Bondarenko said that practice of public access to information on the owners of property applies in Europe.

The openness of information on owners of property does not impact the price formation and the number of deals as the changes mainly concern the improvement of carrying out transactions.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday passed at second reading the government's bill on amendments to some Ukrainian laws regarding end beneficiaries of companies and public figures (No. 5114).
