National Joint-Stock Company Naftogaz Ukrainy will resolve the issue of the repayment of a $2.7 billion debt to Russia's Gazprom by the end of January, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Eduard Stavytsky said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Friday.

"These issues [the debt of $2.7 billion to Gazprom] are being resolved, [and] they will be resolved by the end of the month... We will repay the debt to our partners on time or find common ground if we don't have enough working capital, although I'm sure that everything will be fine," he said.

Stavytsky said that funds to repay the debt to Gazprom would be found at Naftogaz Ukrainy. According to him, in the beginning of the year Naftogaz returned to the market of gas supply to industrial consumers, which significantly improves its performance.

As reported, with reference to the deputy head of the department for foreign economic relations at Gazprom, Viktor Valov, Naftogaz has until January 25 to pay to the Russian monopolist $2.7 billion to repay the debt for 2013, payment on which was postponed.
