The international organizations R20 - Regions of Climate Action, which helps regional authorities in introducing energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly technologies, will open its representative office in Donetsk.

Head of Donetsk Regional State Administration Andriy Shyshatsky and Founding Chair of R20 Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a relevant communique in Brussels on Monday, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.

"A representative office will be established in Donetsk region, which will coordinate work in Ukraine and neighboring countries, central and eastern Asia. We want to build the bridge, which our states are unfortunately not always able to make," R20 Executive Director is Dr. Christophe Nuttall said.

According to Nuttall, the office will identify actual projects related to energy efficiency and the use of alternative energy sources, will train experts and raise public awareness in the field of energy conservation, create a regional network of alternative energy trading markets.

"Membership in the R20 association, which meets modern challenges, will give a new impetus to the development of energy-saving technologies in Donbas. We want to create a sort of hub in Donetsk, a representative office that will bring together all the new environmental technologies and energy efficiency projects," Shyshatsky said.
