As part of his visit to the People's Republic of China, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba met with Governor of Guangdong Province of the People's Republic of China Wang Weizhong and a delegation of regional officials.

According to the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Kuleba noted the high level of development of the city of Guangzhou and Guangdong province and the importance of regional cooperation between Ukraine and other countries.

In particular, he informed the Chinese officials that a number of European countries have already taken patronage of a number of Ukrainian cities and regions, participating in their recovery and development.

According to the Ukrainian Minister, such cooperation between the countries at the regional level allows achieving tangible results for people.

Dmytro Kuleba reminded that Guangdong Province and Mykolaiv Oblast have been partnering since 1994 and invited the Chinese authorities and business to consider intensifying regional cooperation.

"We invite your representatives to visit Mykolaiv and other regions of Ukraine, to consider investment and business prospects and humanitarian needs. We will strongly welcome and facilitate cooperation between our regions and the participation of your business in the reconstruction of our country. Ukraine is striving for recovery and development, and such regional cooperation can be very effective in achieving this goal, creating jobs and improving the quality of life of people," the Minister said.

Dmytro Kuleba also suggested holding a business forum to boost ties between Ukrainian and Chinese companies and find new promising projects and opportunities for cooperation.

"Mykolaiv region suffered greatly at the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, but since then our Defense Forces have pushed the enemy back and the region is now actively rebuilding and developing. In particular, there is a great demand for construction, industrial recovery, renewable energy and other areas. So now is a good time to deepen trade ties," he emphasized.

Governor Wang Weizhong praised the significant prospects for Ukrainian-Chinese regional cooperation and assured Minister Kuleba of his readiness to revitalize cooperation with Mykolaiv region and consider prospects for cooperation with other regions of Ukraine.

Guangdong Province is one of the most technologically advanced Chinese regions, accounting for ⅕ of China's GDP. It is home to a total of about 150 million people.
