More than 500 drones being sent to Ukraine as part of coalition - Latvian Defense Minister
More than 500 more drones are being sent to Ukraine as part of the drone coalition, Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds said.
"A package of more than 500 drones begins its journey to Ukraine," Spruds wrote on the social network X on Monday.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense reported that Latvia will transfer the next batch of drones to the Ukrainian military during July within the framework of the created coalition — we are talking about 2,500 UAVs of various types for EUR 4 million.
The drone coalition aims to provide Ukraine with drones, as well as to find ways to support Ukrainian manufacturers to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the most effective means.
Members of the Drone Coalition have already provided significant support to Ukraine by supplying drones. In particular, Latvia provides a testing ground for drones to industrial and military enterprises in order to constantly improve unmanned technologies. The UK has announced an industry competition for the development and purchase of FPV drones, for which 265 applications have been received. These applications are currently being evaluated, and the first contracts are expected to be signed in August.
