National Olympic Committee approves budget for 2013 at UAH 33.2 m

The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine has approved a budget for 2013 of UAH 33.2 million.

A respective decision was made on Friday at the 27th general assembly of the NOC.

Of this amount, almost half will be spent on non-returnable financial aid, including stipends for athletes, financial aid to the offices of the committee, the federations of Olympic sports, and various awards and events to promote the Olympic movement. UAH 1.3 million will be spent on preparations for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.

In addition, the NOC's general assembly approved the budget of actual revenues and expenditures for 2011 of an amount of UAH 60.37 million, as well as the execution of the current budget in the first nine months of 2012 at UAH 37.6 million.

The NOC's general assembly also supported an initiative of NOC President Serhiy Bubka to mark the 100th anniversary of the first Russian Olympics in Kyiv, continue improving the system of organization of the activities of the NOC and its local branches, and create the conditions for the introduction in Ukraine, along with the Adecco company, of a program of social adaptation and employment of athletes after their retirement. The NOC plans to continue working closely with the National Television and Radio Company to cover the events of Olympic and sporting life in Ukraine.

The priorities in the activities of the NOC's executive committee are the preparation of the national team for the 2014 Winter Olympics and other high-level competitions and full support for the realization of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's initiative on the country's bid to host Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2022.
