Kyiv, March 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Public Road Control movement has called on citizens to fight more actively against unsatisfactory state of the roads in Ukraine.

According to the current legislation, the State Automobile Inspection is responsible for the state of roads, Leader of the Public Road Control movement Serhiy Dubovenko said at a press conference hosted by Interfax-Ukraine.

He added that the movement is now giving the public the opportunity to complain online about potholes in Ukraine's roads. They can make reports to the State Automobile Inspection on the Web site: www.4road.net.

Dubovenko said that in 2011 the movement sent around 600 requests based on such messages to various state agencies.

"I mean that we made a legal test and a simple mechanism for [control over] the respect [for citizens' rights to better road conditions]," he said.

In addition, the movement provides legal support in specific cases.
