President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (PA) Rasa Jukneviciene, at a meeting with Ukrainian parliamentarians, has stressed the importance of securing the European and Euro-Atlantic course of Ukraine in the Constitution, and the parties discussed the issue of holding a spring session of the Assembly in Kyiv in 2020.

"Today, a meeting has been held with President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Rasa Jukneviciene, who has made her first visit to Kyiv in the new status. Madam President regards support and solidarity with Ukraine as a priority. During the meeting, they discussed the issue of holding a spring session of the NATO PA in Kyiv in 2020," head of the parliamentary delegation of Ukraine to the NATO PA Iryna Friz (Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction) said on her Facebook page.

According to the parliamentarian, Jukneviciene stressed the importance of consolidating the European and Euro-Atlantic courses in the Basic Law of Ukraine, which would make any manifestations to change the foreign policy vector impossible. She also called on the political forces of Ukraine to consolidate in defending democracy and Euro-Atlantic integration during elections in 2019.

Friz also said that at the meeting first deputy chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Gerashchenko appealed to the leaders of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly regarding influence on Hungary, which continues blocking Ukraine's cooperation with the Alliance at the Ukraine-NATO commission level.
