Poroshenko approves National Program of Ukraine-NATO Cooperation for 2016
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has approved the annual National Program of Ukraine-NATO Cooperation for 2016, the press service of the head of state has reported.
The press service said that the program aims at providing the coordinated and comprehensive development of cooperation between Ukraine and the Alliance in all directions where the two sides cooperate.
"The program sets general political goals of Ukraine-NATO partnership and directions of cooperation with the Alliance in international security (international peacekeeping, fight against terrorism, control over armament and ecological safety). In addition, the program reflects the key steps in the process of carrying out political, economic and social reforms in the country, the main elements of the policy in the national security and defense area," the press service said.
The program defines goals, tasks and practical steps to reform the security and defense sector and increase Ukraine's defense level, which will be made in cooperation with NATO by concrete executors – central executive power agencies.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is ordered to ensure coordination of operations of central executive power agencies on the implementation of the National Program.
The decree took effect from the moment of its publication.
