Security Service's criminal proceedings regarding power seizure are provocation – Ukrainian opposition
The criminal proceedings regarding actions aimed at state power seizure started by the Ukrainian Security Service are a provocation, Svoboda Party leader Oleh Tiahnybok said.
"We consider the intimidation of the society with opening such criminal cases to be a provocation," Tiahnybok said at a briefing in the National Resistance Headquarters in Kyiv on Sunday.
When asked by reporters regarding whom the criminal proceedings were started, Tiahnybok said he did not posses such information for now and that he had learned about criminal proceedings from mass media reports. "This is solely emotional and practical reaction to mass media reports," he said.
It has been reported that the Ukrainian Security Service's main investigative department was investigating a criminal case on actions aimed at state power seizure under Part 1of Article 109 of the Criminal Code, actions aimed at forceful change or overthrow of the constitutional order. The article stipulates prison term of five to ten years.
No one is suspected of the committing the crime so far.
