Ukraine's Foreign Ministry has said that there are no citizens of Ukraine among those who died when a ferry carrying tourists sank off the coast of Thailand.

"There are no citizens of Ukraine among the victims," the director of the ministry's information policy department, Yevhen Perebyinis, told Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.

A ferry heading from Koh Larn Island for Pattaya and carrying mainly foreign tourists sank several kilometers off the coast in the Gulf of Thailand on November 3.

Some 200 people were brought to the shore as a result of a rescue operation. Early reports say seven people died and some 20 more were hospitalized.

There were several dozen Russians aboard, most of whom were rescued. One Russian woman died.

The Thai authorities are trying to identify the citizenship of the dead who were not carrying any form of identification.
