Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has opened a new block of flats at the Livoberezhny-3 housing area in Dnipropetrovsk, which was constructed under the Affordable Housing social initiative.

An Interfax-Ukraine reported said on Thursday that at the ceremony Yanukovych presented four 2012 Olympic athletes, Yana Dementieva, Natalia Dovhodko, Anastasia Kozhenkova, and Kateryna Tarasenko, as well as their coach Oleksandr Piatnytsia, with apartments in the block of flats.

A family that participated in the Affordable Housing program also received an apartment in the building.

In his speech, Yanukovych said that every Ukrainian family should have an opportunity to buy such housing, "the cost of which won't exceed 30% of the family budget."

According to the president, 15 more blocks of flats are to be built in the housing area in Dnipropetrovsk. Yanukovych also inspected two apartments on the first floor of the new block of flats.
