Opposition coalition Georgian Dream should receive at least 92 of the 150 seats in Georgia's parliament as a result of Monday's parliamentary election, in which it defeated President Mikheil Saakashvili's United National Movement, the opposition group's chief spokesperson predicted on Tuesday.

Spokeswoman Maia Panjikidze told reporters that Georgian Dream had expected to win 97 seats in the legislature, though the Central Election Commission had not yet published its next update on election returns.

"This is, of course, a very optimistic forecast, but a maximum of five votes can be subtracted from this figure - no more than that," she said
