Deposit Guarantee Fund appeals to government for next loan tranche

The Individuals' Deposit Guarantee Fund has appealed to the government for another tranche of the loan, Fund Managing Director Kostiantyn Vorushilin has stated.

"We have asked for a new tranche. I think it will be also issued, which means there won't be problems with payments to depositors," he said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

He added that the Cabinet of Ministers does everything necessary for the fund to fulfill its obligations.

"We borrowed UAH 20 billion, which were foreseen in the budget, and I can say that the mechanism worked out well. We take tranches as needed: from UAH 500 million to UAH 2.5 billion depending on the need. And here all the structures, including the Ministry of Finance, the National Bank and Oschadbank, through which the operations bill repurchase are transferred, run like clockwork," he said.

Vorushilin also said that the fund as of the end of July had UAH 2.5 billion from the previous borrowings.

"We agreed on the last UAH 20 billion. Payment of interest is at the end of the term in nine years, but this amount will double to UAH 40 billion," he added.

Vorushilin noted that among the sources of replenishment for the fund is the increase in tax rate for banks and the sale of assets of insolvent banks.
