Ukroboronprom state concern is working on a cooperation program to create a new ammunition production facility in Ukraine jointly with the defense companies of NATO member states, Ukroboronprom Deputy Head Denys Hurak has told Interfax-Ukraine.

He confirmed the plans presented in media reports after the June meeting of the Ukraine-NATO commission in Brussels that the sides will cooperate in the new weapon production project that would replace weapons production facilities lost due to Russian aggression – Luhansk Ammunition Plant and Donetsk Chemical Products Plant.

"As a part of the task set by the Ukrainian authorities to compensate the lost defense production facilities we're holding talks with some European and U.S. defense companies on the issue," he said.

Hurak said that it is too early to disclose the details of cooperation.

He said that by the end of the year the sides plan to finish working on the partnership program and sign the document.

The new production facilities could be created in next two years, he said.

According to information earlier presented by Ukroboronprom, after the annexation of Crimea by Russia and the military conflict in Donbas, 23 out of 137 enterprises-members of the concern are now located in Crimea and in the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone: 16 in Crimea and seven in Donbas.
