Rada allows Supreme Court to review Higher Administrative Court decisions on actions of parliament, president and Higher Council of Justice
The Verkhovna Rada has supported amendments to the Code of Administrative Proceedings regarding the competence of the Supreme Court of Ukraine.
A total of 252 lawmakers voted for such a decision on Friday, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.
"The draft [law] proposes defining legal and institutional grounds for the revision by the Supreme Court of Ukraine of the decisions of the Higher Administrative Court of Ukraine," reads the explanatory note.
According to the law, "the decision of the Higher Administrative Court of Ukraine regarding the appealing of acts, actions or inaction of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the president of Ukraine, the Higher Council of Justice, is subject to review by the Supreme Court of Ukraine according to the rules defined by this code."
In the previous wording this provision was set out in this form: "The decision of the Higher Administrative Court of Ukraine regarding the appealing of acts, actions or inaction of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the president of Ukraine, the Higher Council of Justice is final and is not subject to review in an appeal or cassation mode."
