Govt approves procedure necessary for implementation of European digital wallet
The procedure for maintaining a list of electronic identification schemes and wallets with digital identification, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, allows for the introduction of new means of electronic identification with different levels of trust and brings Ukraine closer to the implementation of the European digital wallet.
"The government adopted a resolution for the further development of the field of electronic identification, the introduction of new means of electronic identification with different levels of trust. The resolution will create the preconditions for the implementation of the European Digital Wallet in the future," the Ministry of Digital Transformation announced on Facebook on Tuesday.
The resolution defines the rules for creating a market for electronic identification service providers. Users of electronic services will receive means of electronic identification with different levels of trust in accordance with EU standards, will be able to choose where to obtain means of electronic identification, and use means of electronic identification when authorizing in various state electronic systems to receive public services.
In the future, users will be able to use a digital wallet, which will allow people to electronically store their identification data (eID), conveniently use and share them both within their country and abroad to receive various types of services, the Ministry of Digital Transformation said in a statement.
Diia will take part in the development of the European digital wallet. After the introduction of the product, Ukrainians will be able to use Diia in the EU, and Europeans will be able to use their digital wallets in Ukraine.
