Crimean turbines manufactured in Germany, not Russia, as previously believed - TPE
Technopromexport (TPE) had assumed that turbines for the thermal power plants in Crimea would be manufactured by the Russian company Siemens Gas Turbine Technology, but it turns out they were made in Germany, TPE's lawyer said in Moscow's Arbitration Court on Thursday.
"A condition in the contract had called for the turbines to be manufactured by the supplier, a Russian organization. We learned today that they were manufactured in Germany and the [equipment] sent to Russia by Siemens AG," TPE's lawyer said, following the hearing.
The information was contained in an explanatory letter sent by the German company to the Russian company before the court hearing.
"Until now we assumed that the equipment, in accordance with point 4.1 in the contract, was manufactured by LLC Siemens Gas Turbine Technology, but now we learned that they were imported to Russia by Siemens AG from Germany," TPE's lawyer said during the court hearing.
"We never operated on the basis that our client in the current case could lie about a Russian organization allegedly manufacturing the gas turbines," TPE's lawyer said.
