Number of Ukrainian cities hosting EuroBasket 2015 already sign agreements with local organizer, though Kyiv lags behind

The local organizing committee of EuroBasket 2015 tournament has already signed agreements on cooperation on holding EuroBasket 2015 European Basketball Tournament with Lviv and Dnipropetrovsk.

"The agreements on cooperation with Dnipropetrovsk and Lviv city councils have been signed, while right now some statements of the agreements are being confirmed with Odesa, Donetsk and Kharkiv city councils," the committee's press service quotes basketball tournament's director Markiyan Lubkivsky as saying on Friday.

However, the director said he is concerned over the delay of signing of the document with Kyiv officials.

"Today the international organizing committee of EuroBasket 2015 has received no constructive comments from Kyiv City Council on the offered document's draft," Lubkivsky said.

He reminded that these agreements govern the issues of the preparation of the transport, traffic, sports and hotel infrastructure in the cities, the promotion of the championship, as well as a proper level of security, law enforcement and medical services during the tournament.

The agreements on cooperation with the host cities have been elaborated by the local organizing committee and after the discussion at the seminar in Kyiv on November 15, 2013, they were submitted for signing by the local authorities.

As reported, the basis for cooperation with the host cities is an agreement on holding the tournament signed between the Basketball Federation of Ukraine (BFU) and FIBA Europe, as well as an application dossier, which includes a written guarantee of the host cities on overall support for holding EuroBasket 2015 in Ukraine.
