Ukrainian runner wins 2013 Osaka International Women's Marathon

Ukrainian runner Tetyana Gamera-Shmyrko finished first in the 2013 Osaka International Women's Marathon held in Osaka, Japan, on January 27.

The Ukrainian athlete covered the 42-kilometer distance in 2 hours 23 minutes 58 seconds.

"This is 34 seconds less than her result at the 30th London Olympics, where she was fifth. Gamera-Shmyrko is the first of the Ukrainian athletes who managed to win in marathon in Osaka," the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine has reported.

Japan's Kayoko Fukushi and Yuko Watanabe finished second and third respectively.
