Poroshenko, Volker discuss situation in Ukraine's east, coordinate further steps for Donbas de-occupation
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has met with U.S. Department of State Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker in Washington, at which the parties discussed the situation in the East of Ukraine and coordinated further steps for de-occupation of Donbas.
The two discussed the security situation in the east of Ukraine and coordinated further steps for the de-occupation of the Donbas, the presidential press service said on Saturday evening.
Poroshenko thanked the United States for continuing sanctions policy against the Russian Federation. The head of state stressed the importance of increasing pressure on Russia to immediately release Ukrainian hostages.
President Poroshenko and the United States Special Representative also exchanged views on strengthening the Ukrainian Army's defense capability.
In addition, the issue of strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and the United States was discussed to prevent Russia's interference in the Ukrainian elections.
