Court to review complaint by Transparency International over decision to classify Yanukovych $1.5 billion confiscation
Kyiv Region's Administrative Court on Monday, November 27, 2017, will review a complaint filed by the NGO Transparency International (TI) against the decision of Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office (PGO), Ukraine's Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) military prosecutor's office and the state-owned "Information court systems" enterprise to classify the court ruling according to which $1.5 billion in assets belonging to disgraced ex-Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and his cronies were confiscated. TI demands overturning a number of decisions on classifying the information and seeks the court to compel state agencies to publish the guilty verdict in the unified system of court decision," TI's press release said, noting that eight months has passed since the decision was taken.
"The ruling of the court on arresting the assets has not yet been published. TI believes this is a warning signal. Society still does not know what assets were confiscated as penalty for what crimes, and, if the ruling contains technical mistakes, it can be appealed," the organization said.
