SBU imposes entry ban on Russian actor Tsapnik for playing DPR militant in Russian film

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has imposed a five-year entry ban on Russian actor Yan Tsapnik, who played a militant of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) in the War Correspondent film.

"On December 29, citizen of the Russian Federation Yan Tsapnik was issued with a five-year ban on entry to Ukraine and the Culture Ministry of Ukraine was informed of it in order to include him in the list of persons posing a threat to the national security of Ukraine," SBU said in response to a request from chairman of Ukraine's National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting Yuriy Artemenko published on his Facebook page.

Artemenko said that if Tsapnik was really scheduled to take part in a New Year show on the Inter TV channel, the broadcaster would have to take appropriate measures.

"I hope that the television channel will pay attention to this information from SBU and will in a timely fashion bring its program into accordance with it," he said.

Ukrainian media said earlier that in the evening of December 31 the Inter TV channel intended to broadcast a New Year show, entitled 'Staying for the Winter', in which Russian actor Tsapnik, who recently played the role of a DPR armed unit soldier in the Russian film War Correspondent, was scheduled to take part.
