Poroshenko calls on Malaysian businessmen to invest in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has called on representatives of Malaysian business to invest in Ukraine.

"Investing in Ukraine you can receive inexpensive production facilities located closely to the EU market and a possibility of hiring skilled Ukrainian employees," the president said at a meeting with Malaysian businessmen as part of his official visit to Malaysia.

"I am sure that today it is time for Malaysian investors to come to Ukraine. It has large opportunities in various economic sectors. Taking into account huge industrial and servicing potentials of our countries we should move to a more complicated and creative cooperation," Poroshenko said.

Commenting on directions where businessmen can invest their money, the Ukrainian president said that they are agriculture, IT industry, aerospace and aviation.

"Ukraine has a full cycle of transport and passenger aircraft building. The country also produces aircraft engines and aviation products that are better than foreign analogs from many points of view," he said.

He said that cooperation in defense industry could bring economic relations between the two countries at a higher level.

"Ukraine is among countries with the developed industrial base and large scientific and technical potential. Ukraine is interested in expanding cooperation in all industrial sectors, including shipbuilding, engineering, light industry, metal and chemical industries," Poroshenko said.

He called on Malaysian investors to participate in the competitive and transparent privatization of state-run enterprises.
