SBU warns that Russian security services' attempting to influence results of local elections in Zakarpattia
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has warned Zakarpattia region that Russian security service would attempt to influence local elections in autumn 2015, the SBU press service reported.
"Russian security officers under cover of a private Moscow organization attempted to help local 'left' [forces] to influence the situation in the region. In turn, Moscow curators promised to finance their election campaign," the SBU said on its website on Thursday.
The service also said that the SBU office in Zakarpattia region sent an official warning notice to one of the organizers of local left-ring party saying that committing of aforementioned actions are treated as high treason by Criminal Code of Ukraine.
