Round-the-clock efforts under way to battle forest fire near Chornobyl – Ukraine's emergency service
Efforts continue to extinguish a wildfire, which broke out on the premises of the Chornobyl Puscha forestry area in the exclusion and compulsory evacuation zone last Sunday, Ukraine's State Emergency Situations Service said in a press release on Thursday morning.
"The situation is under control as of 7:00 a.m. on August 13. Measures to extinguish [the forest fire] continue round-the-clock," it said.
A firefighting operation center has been set up and a mobile group, led by deputy director of the State Emergency Situations Service's branch for the Kyiv region Petro Kisiliov, is working at the site.
