Dutch criminal investigation into MH17 disaster may result in accusations of murder, war crimes
The criminal investigation into the Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 disaster in eastern Ukraine might result in accusations of murder and war crimes, Press Secretary of the Dutch Prosecutor General's Office Wim De Bruin has said.
The Dutch investigators weren’t expecting to move that far along in the investigation, De Bruin said in an interview with Daily Telegraph on Thursday.
There will be accusations of murder and possibly war crimes, he said, adding that Dutch prosecutors are conducting the investigation in line with international standards and the technical investigation of the crash is being overseen by the Dutch Security Council.
According to the newspaper, experts from the Netherlands, Australia, Belgium, Malaysia and Ukraine are involved in the investigation.
The final report of the Security Council is to be posted in the first half of October 2015, and the criminal investigation is expected to be conducted by the end of the year.
According to De Bruin, a detailed report will be drawn up for the courts at the end of the investigation.
