Parliament introduces vehicle responsibility for traffic rules violations, revokes fine range, initiates fine points
The Ukrainian parliament has amended some Ukrainian laws on improving regulations on road safety.
A total of 267 lawmakers supported draft law No. 2562 at second reading.
According to the draft law, companies and individuals registered to vehicles responsible for breaking traffic rules will be identified automatically using photo and video speed cameras.
If vehicles are registered outside Ukraine and are not or cannot be registered in Ukraine, a person who imported this vehicle to Ukraine is responsible for breaking the traffic rules.
The document revokes the so-called "fine range" for breaking traffic rules and retains the minimum sum of fines.
A fine can be collected on site by cashless payment devices only.
Fines points have been introduced – 150 points per driver for one year. Points will be deducted if an offense is committed.
